Making a name with their pop art collage of musical styles and postmodern arrangements, LA’s dangerous new outfit Chemical Therapy incorporate everything from samples and drum machines to live instrumentation and sound effects. Alternative rock reinforced with a hip hop undercurrent, Chemical Therapy were formed in 2023 by Sweet Baby Nate, Tex, Taco, and Chris Cool. Three of which being former members of indie-rock band Heyrocco. As teenagers, Heyrocco began their journey via South Carolina in 2016. The band achieved minor international success with their debut album Teenage Movie Soundtrack, landing them millions of streams and tours across the U.S. and Europe with acts like Grouplove, Mutemath and The Lemonheads. Eventually the group retired their indie direction, allowing a new fusion of styles to naturally bloom into what is now simply known as “Chem T”.
On record, the band is singer Sweet Baby Nate and multi-instrumentalist Taco, who’ve been making music together for nearly a decade. Live, the band features bassist Chris Cool and guitarist Pat “Tex” Mertens from Austin, TX. Their debut single “Daddy’s Girl” is making a name for the band around their new hometown of Los Angeles, CA. Written and recorded at their East L.A. studio “East Los Love” and mixed by Blind Melon’s Chris Thorn at Fireside Sound in Joshua Tree, CA. Their blend of alternative rock, electronic, hip-hop, and pop is beginning to catch fire around Los Angeles, Nashville, and soon, the rest of the world.
